75 to 85 seem to be your favorite focal lengths....this lens seems very good too.

I agree.   The piccys are great and I'm tempted to order a C Mount adapter too but having looked on fleabay it seems finding a lens like this might be more tricky.

So are we right in saying this is equivalent to a 150mm on a 35mm camera?

Can't quite get my head round how this affects the choice of lenses for the E-P1.  What's considered a wide angle lens on 35mm is a portrait lens on M4/3 etc?

I'd like to look into getting a good legacy lens for portraits but not until I have this conversion issue clear and the effects it has on photos...

Anyone?

TIA

Adri

Multiply the focal length twice and you will get the "35mm equivalent".

Yes.  But are there not side effects to doing that?  I was aware of the simple side of multiplying by 2 but wondered if there were 'other' effects of using a lens designed for one format in a different format.  Barrel Distortion, chromatic aberrations etc

Just wondering.

TIA

It is possible to see more aberrations because the image is magnified more in order to show it on screen/paper than the full-frame is. Every result you get is lens-dependent. That's why we have the "lens sample" section.

C mount is fun, some of them are so small, some of them have beautiful artistic bokeh (it's a matter of taste), some have natural vignetting out in the corners (makes a nice frame), some are really sharp (at least in the middle), some are heavy and supreme built :D

I guy stared at me for a long time here the other day when I walked around with one of my Soligors Elitars on my PEN. Suddenly he asked "that's not a new camera, is it?"  ;)
