OK, A little background,
I only mounted the lens w/o changing my settings other than ISO Or f/stop
I use "
Film Mode: Smooth, and all sliders are set to "0".  Just as I would with my 20mm  f/1.7 mounted....
the RAW files came out really flat and almost desaturated... My software will process the RW2 "As Shoot", so I will see the in-camera engine produced.......

OK, the samples... RAW, PP JPG

The Post Processed is similar to the RAW untouched images as far as the flatness and lack of color... Forgive me. The comparisons are still valid for the 2 issues I have mentioned.

Now, when I use my ZM 50, I don't get such washed out RW2 files, and not with the 20mm either... Just the CV 28mm f/1.9...

Do any of have adapted lenses that produce similar files?

Any suggestions for camera settings as a base starting point with the CV 28mm f/1.9?

Kind of a bit of haloing isn't there?

Is there already a topic for this lens in the Sample Archive or can I move this one there?

Well, it wasn't meant as lens archive post, more as "How the lens renders on the G1... and of others experience the same...
But, if it IS a proper topic for the CV 28mm f/1.9 ASPH archive.. Then move it, I have no problem with it.

If there's already an archive for it, then meh I'll leave it here.

No offense, but it looks like it was shot with a disposable camera.

Non taken, the CV 28mm f/1.9 ASPH is one of those lenses that doesn't do so well on a m4/3 sensor. It Rocks with Film though  ;D
The Wides that are of retro-focus design do much better on a m/43 senor. (IE: SLR FF lenses)
This Voigtlander RF lens is not retro-focus. No need to be.

I only partly agree. The sharpness is not there, true. But there is something about the way the lens captures a feeling of depth that digital lenses lack. I don't know if I can say that, but I often feel that images with sharp digital lenses feel flat. Having said that I don't use my Voigtlander 15mm/4.5 Aspherical Hellion on my E-P1 much anymore because of general softness. These are lenses as M5 points out don't do so well on a m43 sensor.

IMO fill in flash would have greatly improved the images

It was pretty bright, but, sometimes I don't look at the histogram, and underexpose too much... I only shoot RAW, so, I get lazy sometimes with exposure. Thinking I can pull it back later.  :-[

it isnt tack sharp wide open but ok  stopped down its better , but its a beautiful lens to use its feel and its rendering are nice most of the time ...some of those shots above have hot spots that look wierd but its a better lens than these shots suggest

i own the leica thread mount version of the lens in black, and use it adapter on the ep1 and gf1

I got much better results on my M5, but, all that is history now... I no longer own any Leica gear, but have switched to the Contax G1 and Carl Zeiss G 45mm f/2... I intend to get an adapter at some point.

as you know i own a non working g1 but use the
45 and the 90 mm  adapted...its  8)

your use of film is inspiring
im now of the mind to buy a g1 body again to use my excellent zeiss lenses as they were orig intended  :)

ive long loved the the contax g when i got one  way back in the 90s but now i think ill buy a minty user :) sadly the closest thing to the contax g paradigm is the fujifilm x 100[if you ignore interchangable lenses for the moment]

i preordered an x100 on friday at adorama along with the new panny\leica 25mm 1.4
i am number 70 aand 250 respectively on the waiting lists ... thats the closest one can get to the g1 contax if iwas recreaated digitally, imho

The G1 sells for $200.00 +/- all day long on eBay, Just get the Green label, that has the updated ROM chip. mainly for the 21 and 35, but may have "Hidden" updates also.  The 45 on the other hand seems to sell for the $450 range in mint to E+.
