Wow does this lens have a fantastic rendering.  I can't wait until they're here in the US...I have a preorder at Adorama, and I can't wait...

I also really like the square format... i've considered shooting 6x6 exclusively for a while.

Thank you guys for the comments, really encouraging!

These aren't completely squared, are 4X5 which I prefer to the standard 3X2 or even the 4/3

The PL 25 f/1.4 has a lot of character, the smother featuring with the Bokoh is typical of German design..

I got this lens a few weeks ago and I love it!, it is amazing!, I took it with me this last week-end to Brecon Beacons National Park and it remained attached to the EP3 the whole time, I did't change lens in 3 days!

Some examples:

Kind regards!

I have a new favorite lens.  I have always liked the ~50mm (full frame) field of view, and while the 20/1.7 is a very good lens, it never clicked enough with me to be a favorite.  In just one day shooting with my new 25/1.4, I have that great feeling I had with my 1Ds II and Sigma 50/1.4, but in a MUCH smaller and lighter package.  Oh, and it's sharper wide open.  It is sharp right from wide open and has absolutely stunning bokeh.  Completely creamy in almost all situations.  Occasionally some longitudinal CA crops up at very wide apertures, but it's sharp, contrast, with great color, great bokeh, fast AF and well....what more could you ask for?

Some samples around town:

Few more of my daughter.  This lens just has such a nice rendering.  Honestly, it really is one of those lenses that makes you feel like you're shooting a larger format.  Not necessarily because of the aperture...I got far shallower DOF from my 50/1.4 on full frame, but the rendering is so good that it feels like the look I got on full frame to some extent.  A guy on Fred Miranda even remarked that he hadn't seen micro 4/3 look so good before.  (I have, but it seems to happen more often with this lens than on most others).

Also, after using it more, I have to say this is overall the best normal prime I've ever owned, and I've owned some good ones for both APS-C and full frame, as well as the excellent 20/1.7.  I've had very sharp lenses with ok bokeh, well balanced lenses, and lenses that were moderately sharp but with brilliant bokeh.  This lens is the first I've had that is brilliantly sharp wide open while also having beautiful bokeh.  It's very rare, and very difficult to achieve.  Usually with this level of resolution and contrast the bokeh suffers (at least with a normal focal length...it's much easier with a short telephoto), but this lens is so sharp wide open, with outstanding contrast and yet the background remains nice and soft, without harsh edges to specular highlights.  Love it.

These are all at f/1.4:

One from yesterday.  This has been processed to give the soft/dreamy glow.  Let me assure you that there is plenty of fine detail in the image, it just kind of blends away a bit in the web reduced size.  I think I'm going to print this one pretty large.  :)

I've had it borrowed from a magazine for about a month now. I'm doing my first review ever. I was so sad that I couldn't get it  so I got excited when they loaned it to me but now...even at 40% off if I want to keep it... I'm kinda not interested...
Don't get me wrong now, its the sharpest wide open lens ever made, quote me on it, but the manual focus is so painfully awfull I just can seem to bring myself to love it.

You mean the MF ring is slow as you turn it?

It is MF by wire, but doesn't track with your turning speed?

it feels even worst than the others. At f1.4 precise focusing to me is critical, and the leica is awfull at micro adjusting. You turn it s tiny bit and you almost always go past were you want. But the rendering is just too beautiful to hate this lens. At first I was really sour towards it cause I was given a model and was having hell of a hard time getting the eyes in focus in the dynamic shoot, but after practicing you get the feel of it. The lens is sharpest at f2.8 but very close at f2 and not far off at 1.4 unlike the mayority of fast lenses. Leave the hood at home, flare is non existent.

For an old timer, leaving a lens hood home is a scary thought  ;)
But I guess the new NANO-COATINGS are very good. Still, having no indirect light on the front element was always a good thing.

I wander if the MF can be adjusted for how much it moves the focus group. It may have a set # of steps (like 100 steps from INF to CF)
