Hi folks,

here's a few more samples from the Pana/Leica 45mm/f2.8.  All these taken at dusk in my garden, Oly E-P1 on tripod (Manfrotto 055PROB).

The flower is on a small tree, and it's correct (family) name is PLUMERIA, but also known under the name in Europe of "Frangipani".  That name it got from an Italian noble man that made a fortune for himself making a perfume from this flower (which exact member of this family, - which btw have some 300 plus variations, with many different colours, as well, I do not know. And if you wondered, - yes, it is a relative of the oleander.

Many of you would know and recognize the flower, most often white, with a yolky center.  Pacific islands ladies wear the plumeria flower behind one or the other ear, indicating their relationship status, - right ear: seeking, left ear: taken!

In English the Plumeria (tree, or brush) is often referred to as the ´temple tree´, and in some areas of the world, it is associated with death & funeral.  In Thailand, even you find it ´all over´ and in many private gardens as well, some people says it associates with ´sadness´.

Some, or more correct, many of this family members, have a easy recognizable fragrance.  If you ever smelled this flowers fragrance, say, at night, after a short rainfall, you will not easily forget it's fragrance.  Very nice, and unforgettable, most people would say.

However, now for the photos:

Oly E-P1 on tripod - 1/100 - f4.0 - ISO 320

Oly E-P1 on tripod - 1/250 - f2.8 - ISO 200

Oly E-P1 on tripod - 1/250 - f2.8 - ISO 320

Thanks for viewing!   :)

A couple of macro samples with the Pana/Leica DG f2.8/45mm mounted on the E-P1.  Really tried to focus on the left eye of the grasshopper (?), but it seems so-so about that.  However, the (huge insect) was quite patient with the lens in it's face, though.

Just got one of these.  After a little issue with Mode 1 OIS on my GH2 messing up several shots, I'm now getting great results.  Some shots today.  These are on my GH1, though.

The first day I had the lens, any time I shot with mode 1 OIS on, I got pretty blurry shots at f/2.8, but not at other apertures.  It was very odd.  OIS mode 2, fine...OIS off, fine, OIS mode 1 and f/2.8, blurry.  Interestingly, after figuring this out, and switching to mode 2 for a while, it now works just fine in all modes, so I'm guessing the GH2 was just having some sort of bug that reset itself after I reset the OIS modes.  Still, I did find that mode 2 yields the sharpest results overall, so that's what I'm using now on both my GH2 and my GH1.  I just used my GH1 today as I forgot to recharge my GH2 battery last night, so I put it on the charger and grabbed my GH1 as I headed out today.

wonderful pictures Jordan.
clever silhouettes on the dandelion.
Can't comment much on sharpness on the 3rd picture at this size.
However, I bet the hair and eyelashes are razor sharp.
Glad for you for your new lens and for your little model who always gives you unlimited photo opportunities.

It's a shame this lens isn't very sharp... ;) This is wide open on the GH2:

Thanks!  Here's yet another of her, from this morning.  This lens is quite good.  I wish I'd gotten it earlier.

Awesome! Absolute zero wind or draft is a must here.  f2.8, I would think?  And what's your ISO set here, Jman?  Do I see the GH2 in the droplet here?  Job well done!

Some more pics with the wonderful Pana/Leica 45mm.  Would love it to be f2.0, though, - but even at f/2.8 it's bokeh is very nice.

Oh, I like these...
What do you do to have a darker, yet full range image?  do you set your black point higher? or move the center gamma darker on curves?

The richness of the colors are wonderful. and the framing really works... sometimes that can be tough, depending on the room you have around the flower.

These are candidates for the annual Christmas card.  All with GH2 and PanaLeica 45/2.8, with two off camera speedlights (one shoot through white umbrella, the fill was a reflected silver umbrella)
