Panasonic 100-300mm - samples *****
« on: August 05, 2011, 12:37:25 PM »
Hey guys,
I am not a big fan of ultra zooms, much rather prefer high speed primes, small unobtrusive lenses, but this lens is something else, check out the images I posted here
http://www.mikekobal.com/blog/?p=1975
love the lens, and even more so after walking around with it for a couple of hours, it so small and light no back/neck ache!
cheers,
Mike

Nice samples...
If you post some in this thread, I will move it to the Lens Archive Index data base.
We currently don't have this Panasonic G 100-300 in the Index...

Shame on me, I have it, if you do the sample thread I promise to move all of my 100-300 stuff there.
Mike, great stuff, I agree with you, never in my wildest dreams I would have imagined having a 600 mm lens that's barely 6 inches long.
Post your stuff in the gallery! We really want you here more!

these abstractions are quite nice ,a good reminder that even the most realistic subjects in the arts depend on powerful intelligent form to convay aesthetic emotion, whatever else they may deliver for the more common emotions.

the lens looks quite a bit bigger than the panny 45-200 but you pay , in size for the reach, i guess

i shouldnt complain ........s still small for what it achieves

At first it makes you kinda mad because it bumps the ISO severely even in broad daylight. So you start to think: thats not OIS, thats cheating!!, but then you switch it off and really start to see how much you need it.

at f4
with the raynox 250 attached
in low light
in even lower light
almost minumum focusing at 300mm

and its not 6 inches, its barely 5 inches (4.96) without the hood. Hood installed its 7.6 inches. The sony G 70-200 is 7.8 inches no hood. Hood installed is 10.3 inches. Go get a ruler, 3 inches more of lens is a lot.

lisandra , really great stuff there, all of them!

im n ot really happy with my 45-200 panny, the only long lens i have tythat i like is the canon fd 200 2.8

the 100- 300 might fill that niche

at 600mm, f5.6, 1/500 sec ISO 1000 (see what I mean about the ISO?, but the shot is steady and sharp). Not at minimum focusing distance cause otherwise I would have fallen on the lake. AF+MF is awesome on this lens. Focused on the dragonfly with AF+MF. Click on it as always
