Olympus PEN-F H-Zuiko Auto-S f=42mm 1:1.2 Lens Samples
« on: August 02, 2010, 02:40:45 AM »
Nice, big litle gem, extremely soft, very fast. Usually adds a glow that I'd prefer if I could choose to add in post if I wanted it, but it's still a lens I'm very fond of. Unfortunately it hit the floor a couple of months after I got it, after that I can no longer stop it down, it's always wide open. Oh, well. It was extremely difficult stopping it down when I could too, so...  ::)

I keep a ND8 and a P/L-filter within reach for bright daylight use.

The lens:

For size: the filter threads are 49mm, I don't have a photo of the lens on the camera.

A sample image:

I have some more photos taken with this lens at expono.com/kaiandresen/tags/42mmf1.2

Try a portrait with it. I am curious to see what happens!

Thanks for kind words!

Here is my all-time best portait and it's taken with the same lens, rather much cropped and it's high-key enough that there is no background:

The bokeh is usually very very fine, but some kinds of backgrounds gets busy and rather nasty:

About 15 out of 30 images at expono.com/kaiandresen/tags/42mmf1.2 are portraits, and I think it's by far what I use it for most. I'm not too bold at actually posting portaits online though.

Yes, indeed different backgrounds may show different bokeh. I like to have a tree as a background in sunny days, light coming through leaves makes a pretty effect.
