I can't believe there isn't an archive for this lens yet (or if there is, it's not in the index, and a search came up negative.

This is such a great little lens. Inexpensive and surprisingly good optically. Some samples from mine:

you make a good point
perhaps a survey of lens and operational info can be lcreated with an eye toward completeness and
usefulness , this post is an example of how much is missing from the lens archive

ive got a few lenses i could do this for too , i should stop being lazy.

nice lens , what does it cost
i thought it was pricey?

No, this is not a particularly expensive lens. I got it on the super Staples deal a few months ago for $109 brand new! That was a very rare price, though you can get it for about $299 nowadays. In my opinion it is optically superior to the Panny 45-200 in pretty much every way, though you do give up IS on Panny bodies.
