Nikkor Micro 55mm f/3.5 (Ai'd) *****
« on: April 08, 2011, 09:43:36 AM »
My first test with my "new to me" 55mm f/3.5 Micro Nikkor. Most at 1:2 setting.

A little embarrassed because I didn't see this dirty  stuff..

At 1:2 setting. Equals a tad more than 1:1 of a 35mm slide, FOV with crop factor

From Today (Sat 4-9-2011), Dispite the rain !!
Mostly at f/5.6 or f/3.5
ISO 500/640 for White and Yellow, and 1250 for the red ones (1250 ISO after 3rd party NR, still lacks IMO on G1)

quite sharp
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Some from today,

Most at f/8 to f/11. Finally the Sun was out!
ISO 400 for all, with Neat Image NR, but not too aggressive.

that is a very nice lens
lovely and sharp

i have a 105mm  2.8 micro nikkor an early AF version with f stop ring that ive had for perhaps 20 years  thankfully the manual focus on these nikkors  is not focus by wire the l but normal damped with a finite throw that stops at 1:1 at the short end and and at infinity at the long

Thanks, I love the Colors of this Nikkor

The continuous focusing is just why I got it. I was using my ZM 50mm with a the MUE extension tube adapter with no tubes, (15mm extension or there about), and I was very limited to subject distance. The 55mm solved that issue.  I had the Sigma DA/DG/DF 105/2.8 Macro for the Pentax K20d, a few years back, and loved it. But with m4/3, a 55mm is plenty of FOV for flowers.

Thanks

The Textures this lens records along with the colors are very natural looking.

I have always liked this type of photography,  and have had a macro lens for most of my camera kits.

But, next year I want to upgrade to a GH2 for the high ISO performance.  I am in the 320 to 500 range on some days. Although it's not bad, I want better 500+ performance.

Today the adapter arrived and I took this lens and the cam with me during the day. Here some better shots.
I'm really happy with this lens. Togheter with my Zuiko 50mm 1.8 this is the best lens I have.
The only cons are size and aperture of only 3.5.

This spider was very small, less then 1 centimeter.
These 3 are wide open
