Minolta MD 50mm f1.7 Rokkor *****
« on: August 16, 2010, 12:51:47 AM »
Hello,

I've been playing with an adapted lens, the "Minolta 50mm f1.7 with MD Rokkor mount" and I can say I am very pleased. I really wanted  lens with a very wide aperture for the bokeh effect.

These are a few test shots I took this week-end, it's been a rainy week-end so they all are almost indoors:

and the camera with the lens:

Saludos!,

HI Niva_Explorer:

I just got an E-PL1 and would like to use this same lens (from my dad's old SLR).

Can you tell me what kind of adapter you use?  I just want to make sure I get the correct one.  Here is whatI found on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Minolta-MD-MC-ROKKOR-lens-Micro-4-3-Adapter-E-P1-E-P2-/320519837443?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item4aa0789703

My search on ebay only came up with the listing above from RainbowImaging.  Do you recommend any other sellers or sites where I can find an adapter for the MD Rokkor?

Thanks!!!

These are great photos, Djordje, just place them in img tags next time so that people can see them without too much clicking around:

These Minolta lenses in this mount are excellent, and there are a good amount of fast ones available for low prices. I just bought a 35mm f2 MD mount lens by Soligor. I also have a 50mm, but it's a 1.4... They're excellent!

Couldn't resist, bought a Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm f/1.4 off eBay and received it today. It looks great, as good as new, and there is no play whatsoever of the inner barrel within the outer barrel. Almost all my MF Nikkors (I had 30 or so...) had some form of this kind of play. Now I'm waiting for the adapter  :( to see if it's any good...

there is something about the use of these excellent vintage slr lenses on the cutting edge olympus and panasonic bodies on the m4\3 system

i dont know if its the quality damping of the focus mechanism and sureness of a carefully met plane of focus , or the sure and solid click and control of an old school f stops on the A dial  but these fine lenses remind me of what quality and sureness once existed , to be continually enjoyed  thru adapted optics,

enjoy that minolta glass , its wonderful portrait [100mm equiv] length , its nice and shallow DOF wide open , it simply cant be had with an af lens.............. yet
