great stuff!!!

Nearly bought an Angenieux lens after seeing your experiments with the C-Mount.  Didn't get it because I wasn't entirely sure of what I was buying...

Did I miss a good un?  Or save myself from throwing money away?

TIA

Adri

Waaaaaay better than what I achieved with my Cosina SCAF 75-200 tonight.
Was it expensive? I've seen russian mirror lenses before, but not under this model name.
They were usually called "MTO" and "Rubinar" I think.....

I would not recommend zoom lenses in c-mount. My personal experiences is that vignetting is stronger compared to preset lenses and will follow you true the zoom range.

I do not know this lens, and it may be good but I prefer to look after the preset lenses from 1 inch (25mm) and up :D

Yes, this is a MTO ;D
It's a compact all metal construction and very lightweight, quite nice ;)

Usually sells for 100 to 150 USD

M42 to m4/3 but also have in mind that some later Russian lenses were made with Pentax K mount and some even with Nikon F, etc. So, you should better find out what exactly your lens needs and then purchase an adapter.

So here I stumbled upon this topic about a week or so ago and as I was stunned by the details of the picture of the dog and the bird I got one of these lenses from ebay from a russian seller that claimed the particular lens to be of excellent quality. The price and the shippingcost were very reasonable and yes, the seller was absolutely right as this lens is a perfect sample but even better the optics are nothing less than breathtakingly sharp!

Thanks E-P1.net and thanks Nordentro for your great pictures :)

I just got it this afternoon at work but as its my own little company I had the liberty of shooting a few pictures right away, nothing fancy but just for sharpness sake. Allready I'm sure this lens is as sharp as my Canon EF 400mm f5.6L (or even sharper) and most certainly its sharper than the Canon FD 400mm f2.8L I just sold. These lenses are the best next thing to the expensive glass as far as wildlife lenses go.

Coupled with the Panasonic G1, distance about 7 meters, ISO100.

thats quite spectacular image quality for a mirror lens
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...
