Here are two more from today. Both taken at f3.5. PP: levels, resize, sharpen.

The size and the silver color of the lens match really well with E-P1.
Nice photos - tempting me to find one in local market. :)
L39 thread mount I believe?

Thanks DjordjeJ.

Most 50/3.5 lenses are constructed to be a Macro lens as well.
What's the shortest focusing distance for this lens?
Thank you.

@gareth
USSR lenses in m39 mount, at least few that I own, have very long shortest focusing distance, around 1m (too bad).
@cosinaphile
Yes, its nice lens, very light. Only problem (except not being fast) is aperture ring, which is very easy to turn, and made mistake.
I like this lens probably more, because it is my first lens ever, from my first camera Zorki-6.

I didnt use this lens some for some time. Tonight I put it on E-P1 and shot some family gathering. Light was pretty weak, and I mostly shot at f3.5 ISO 3200. I like B&W pictures with ISO 3200

I have three Industar 50s and I want to make a couple things clear about this lens - it was first designed for SLRs (Zenit) and it comes in both M39 (early, usually silver) and M42 (later, usually black) screw mounts.  They were also used on rangefinders like the Zorki and Fed.  Because the lens was designed for an SLR, its flange back distance is appropriate to that configuration.  Therefor, for Rangefinders, the lens was fitted with an extension tube so that the focus would be correct for that configuration. In DjordjeJ's photo, you can see the lens with the extension tube for use with the Zorki.  very important to remember if you want to fit this lens.  I've gotten them for about $10 on ebay direct from the Ukraine and they are super little lenses.  erik.

Hm, something happened with the photographs above....
Anyway, here is one of a little beast which invaded my apartment and landed on the wall near the balcony door. Shot with an Industar 50-2, 50mm, F/3.5, which has the same glass as the original Industar 50, but M-42 screw mount and black barrel. I used three extension tubes to get approximately 1:1 macro, the lens was wide open and I was also assisted by a LED flash light (a simple torch).

Nice colors! I also have this lens in m39 and m42 :D
Have you tried shooting macros stopped down to f8 or f11 with flash with this lens?

I have not as I don't have a macro flash. I did several attempts on a stand, but they were not impressive at all. I am thinking of a LED ring however.....it should assist both composition, focusing and exposure.

Thanks for fixing that. The images are now visible. It is a surprisingly sharp lens!

Few months ago I sold E-P1 and all m43 equipment. Now I am planing to buy E-PL1 and VF, which I missed most for manual focusing.

Wide open (F/3.5):

The particular lens is Industar 50-2, which is the M-42 version.

That's a mighty good 'tele'-macro shot!  Excellent, - good color 'temperature.  Like it a lot.

This one isn't exactly macro, since it's about 1.5m away and the image corresponds to about 40cm in the object space, but thanks.

Thanks. The lens seems to be reasonably sharp. Not stellar, but what doya want for a four element, $10 piece, made 32 years ago?

F/8, non-macro distances:

F/16, maybe about 20cm, two extension rings + maximum extension of the lens' helicoid:

F/16, maybe about 30cm, one extension ring:

All are OOC JPEGs, no PP except compression in order to get the sizes within the mass-upload limitation of 5MB.
