Chiyoko Super Rokkor 45mm f/2.8 Lens Samples *****
« on: May 11, 2010, 06:44:04 PM »
This is the standard lens on a Minolta 35 type 1c (Leica copy with a 24 x 32 frame) from ca. 1948. I found the camera 3 years ago in a flea market with a disintegrated shutter and the lens was not focusing properly. Someone has tried to revive it in the past but did a botched up job. So far I've been unsuccessful in reviving the camera so a friend is attempting to install new curtains. I cleaned the lens and remounted into the focusing helical.

Here's a test shot @ f2.8:

The setup is interesting.
Is the focusing helicoid m4/3-M42-L39-L39 lens in the stack?
I am using one such combination of my Rodenstock enlarging head on m4/3 PEN.
The night scene may not do the lens justice (although the light flare seems reasonable).
Appreciate if you could post daylight shot or indoor ambient light shot for the lens.
Thank for posting.

The lens is standard LTM mount + M-adapter--->M type m4/3 adapter.

No problem, same scene in daylight:

This ancient lens looks good, I imagine you've done a lot of work cleaning it!
Can you post a pic of the E-Px with that lens and adapter?
The pictures seem fine, I can't really say, but for a 62 years old lens, it's good, I think.

Sure...

Generic $35 m4/3-->M adapter from eBay which consistently focused over infinity rendering the scale/DOF markings on my LTM & M lenses useless......

In case it has not been discussed in this forum, here's a tip - a .3mm shim solved the problem.

Thanks. Nice view.

You are welcome!

It's a view of the Sierra Madre mountain range from our home in Quezon City a suburb of Manila where Mr. Aquino also resides. Hopefully he will be the president who can give Filipinos a better future!

Very good match for E-P1's appearance!
I wouldn't worry so much about focusing distance scale, since I never used to look at these
and the DOF scale is just not correct on m4/3.
I am actually happy to have my custom adapters focus slightly beyond infinity since this
means that every lens from this system will actually be able to focus at infinity, at any temperature and
any condition.

lovely camera  ... I'll never get my E-Px to look as beautiful as that (worn-out look I mean) ... the only wear currently is where my thumb usually is ...

I didn't know Quezon City had mountains nearby, anyway, congrats on your new president :).  My favorite best in the world boxer Manny Pacquiao also won in the elections there I read.  Hope the fight with Mayweather Jr. happens ...

Thanks! I acquired it in very dire condition - no vulcanite, stuck shutter, missing parts inside and a nickel Summar with fungus and separation. It was cheap so I tried my hand at DIY restoration using using some Fed parts, CLA and new leather. It's always in my camera bag loaded with B&W film for daylight shooting and the E-P1 for color.

Quezon City was the brainchild of Manuel L. Quezon, president of the Commonwealth in the 1930s. He wanted a new city built north of Manila (then part of Rizal province) as the seat of government as well as housing for the middle-class since (Old) Manila was beginning to get congested. A dream that is yet to be fulfilled....

anyway, congrats on your new president :).

Mr. Aquino has not been officially proclaimed but was leading (significant margin) in the "unofficial" count. Our country has a lot of potential we just need honest leadership and willingness from citizens to to make it better for everyone. Unfortunately since the 60s, we've been governed (mostly) by leaders who put self interest ahead of what is best for the country and its people.

Safe to say that majority of Filipinos are hoping the Pacquiao/Mayweather match becomes a reality!

Thanks, I'm not abreast with pricing. The Minolta 35 was a $40 flea market find 3 years ago while I was driving back to the USA from visiting my brother in Toronto.
