Great pictures and very interesting bokeh.

For the technical minds out there: What in a lens is responsible for bokeh other than the shape of the aperture? I read somewhere that the difference between meridional and sagittal resolution (MTF curves) has also something to do with it. Probably the combination of the aberrations,  chromatic, coma, spherical, astigmatism etc. leaves a finger print that is very unique for each lens.

I'm interested in this lens too, but I don't know where I can find the adapter for the lens.  And how much is the adapter going to cost?

Gareth.  Where do you find these lenses in China?  I've tried the photography and electronics centers with no luck.

That's a great photo! Great sharpness from what I can see, but is this red haze some sort of flare?

Haha, I should have made it clear. There's definitely post processing done. I sharpened it a little bit. The red flare was also added in. But it does accurately show the bokah which I think is pretty nice for such a cheap lens.

Here's another shot for you guys. Shot on the Olympus E-P1 (open wide at f/1.7)
No editing was done on this one other than a slight color adjustment.

I love the samples posted by Graham, especially the one called "Camille."

I just got my Fujian lens, and it's fun, especially for close shots.  Here's a couple samples (my very first attempt with this lens):

P1250541
P1250556

I like the close shots very much, but I'm having trouble focusing at all past about 15 feet from the camera.  I realize many non-standard lenses may not focus to infinity with the EP1, but I expected more DOF than this.  I tried stopping down the lens some, and that helped, but not that much.  Any idea why?  Could it be a function of the adapter I have?  (I noticed that if I unscrewed the lens on the adapter a little, the DOF increased slightly).

Are any of you more successful getting deeper focus with this lens?  If so, how?

Thanks a lot!  I look forward to being part of this community.  I love my EP1 so far, though I feel like I have a lot to learn.

Dan

Here are those pictures (after I learned how to use the BBCode!)  I hope this works . . .

Hi Dan, welcome!

I have this lens, and mine also doesn't focus beyond 4 or 5 meters.
The build quality is kind crappy so it might be a manufacturing problem. Otoh, it might have to do with the sensor-lens distance. You could try increasing that by cutting some rings out of a plastic sheet and putting it on the lens mount. There's athread about that here or on the flickr forums, but i can't look it up for you right now since i'm in an internetcafe in bangkok and my time is running out. If you haven't found it by the end of april when i'll be back home drop me a line and i'll send it to you!
cheers

would this be a native lens for the upcoming kenko interchangable
mount? and would i be crazy to think that the reason this camera was concieved and built is because of the resurganance of interest in c mount primiarily because of the micro 4\3 revolution?

if anyone think im wrong please say so  but that my current opinion

This one is fantastical, great character. These lenses are good in sharpness and overall appearance but the contrast is off. Theres a bit of haziness, thankfully this is easilly corrected in post with a bit of midtone contrast
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

There may be some field curvature...see how the internals of the piano are sharp, but the coke can, which is in the same plane, is not.
The photo is amazing, BTW!

It is an interesting lens, and it can produce as long as one knows it's strengths...and weakness'.
