Canon FD 55mm f/1.2 S.S.C Aspherical *****
« on: June 23, 2010, 01:11:48 PM »

Original

- Sample @ f/1.8
- Sample @ f/2
- Sample @ f/2.8

Olympus PEN E-P1
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: -0.3 EV

-----------------------------------------
I got this lens in the mail today and did a quick low light test tonight.

- Philips LivingColors
I'm really amazed by the sharpness wide open. I'll do a side-by-side test with some other 50mm's soon.

Good photo indeed. Can you provide more life-like examples Like the model car and the helmet?

Will be good to have this lens in our lens sample archive!
Just curiosity: Was it very expensive?

I paid about $370.- (€300,-) for it. I can find 3 completed listings on eBay right now; $587, $869 and $929.- So,.. is it expensive, no... is it a lot of money, yes :)

Was there any set up for the excellent gradation in the background?
Excellent photo.

No, just a white wall and the LivingColors lamp.

Updated the opening post and made a quick sharpness test with the Aspherical versus the regular 55/1.2

The crops are 1:1 on this large version.

I think it's ghosting that fogs the picture wide open, not aberrations. The two seem very good, but the S.S.C. asph. ghosts less wide open.
