[TUTORIAL] - Post Photos From Flickr.com
« on: November 12, 2010, 02:06:55 PM »
Flickr.com is a very highly recommended venue for posting photos online other than the forum's gallery. Here is a simple tutorial on how to post your photos from Flickr to the threads of E-P1.net!

Step 1.

Upload a photo to Flickr.com. Once you've done so, you can go to the photo page of your photo, and it will look like this (of course not with the photo that I have!):

Step 2.

Click on the Share This button above the photo (as highlighted in blue). A dropdown menu will appear on the page. Click on the Grab the HTML/BBCode link.

Step 3.

Once you have clicked on the link in the above photo, it will expand into the following photo. Make sure that you click the option that says BBCode and notHTML, it is not supported on the forum. Once you have selected that option, code similar to below should appear in the box. Highlight all of this code and copy it.

Step 4.

Moving on to the post box at E-P1.net, you can now paste the selected code into your photo where you'd like it. It should look similar to the below photo.

Step 5.

To ensure that you've completed all of the steps correctly, click the Preview button (next to the Post button) and it should look like this:

And there you have it!

Any tips, suggestions, and comments are welcome!

If anyone clicks on the photo, will that send them to flickr or will it just enlarge it?
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Is there a way for this not to happen? I want to post photos on a thread without having to upload them to the gallery. I use a friend's flicker account so I wouldn't want to send people there when they click it. Is there another way?

There is, but it is more complicated. It was less complicated before Flickr redesigned the photo pages, and sometimes people have their settings to not allow the other way to be done.

I use the method below which means that you use a link that doesn't take you to the hosting Flikr account (or include the account name)

>go to your Flikr 'Home' or 'You' page and click on the image you want to post
>select 'View all Sizes' in the 'Actions' drop down menu (just above your image on the left)
>select the size you want
>mouse right click and 'Open in a new window'
>copy the URL
>open a message pane at E-P1.net and use the 'insert image' icon (leftmost icon above the  :) smiley in the message tools)
>paste your URL between the middle 'img' brackets
>preview and, if happy, post
Some of my snaps are on Flickr

If you enjoy your visits to E-P1.net why not donate a dollar or two to help Voyager foot the bill?

Yes, that is the other way, but sometimes people disable the copying of their photo URLs, so it doesn't work a lot of the time, and posting a tutorial on that would be...problematic.

great tutorial. I keep most of my favorite photos in the flickr so this will be useful to not need to re-up to the gallery here.

That'll do beautifully! I'll be posting a lot more soon!!
