A seperate forum for the chapters and a thread for each chapter. Once the threads are started people can start piling submissions into them.

A groups needs to be set up to choose from the submissions. I also think one photographer should be featured in each chapter with a few more photos and a little blurb.  But, tons of photos from all m43 through each chapter and the whole book.

Yes, I will have 10 separate threads for photo submissions, then I will set up a voting threads for the ones that will be included.
Tonight at 9:51pm EST the Voting will be closed. So, you can see which ones are going to make it. You can start shooting now, if you like.

When does all the photos have to be posted then?

Right now it isn't a good season for photography in Sweden, for me, since I most shoot outdoor. I would be very proud if I got one photo in a book!
Best wishes to you all!

You may use any photo made with any m4/3 BODY. + whatever lens you like. I see no reason to "Date Restrict" the photos.

Why not allow photos taken with recent Olympus 4/3 cameras since they use the same sensors and sometimes the same lenses as m4/3? It can be hard to tell the difference between photos taken with an E-P1 and E-5 (or earlier models), whereas photos from, say, a GH2 are quite different.

Also, can you please define the (final) categories which seem random and highly subjective. I could see many photos going into multiple categories, so some differentiation will help us in deciding where to post.

I find it strange that B&W is even listed as a category since any subject could be rendered as B&W. I suggest that if there is a tie for 10th category (as there is right now), that B&W be made a bonus 11th category.

This forum is about Micro Four Thirds cameras, although there could be a section of the book about other cameras, Four Thirds is just as different as any other type of camera.

Not really. The E-3, for example, has a much stronger family relationship to the E-P1 than does the GH2 or other Panasonic cameras. The essential differences between 4/3 and m4/3 are the mirror and lens mount which in practical use may not make much difference in image output, certainly much less than other camera types.

True, but they are still different. This forum is not about Four Thirds cameras whatsoever, as they're grouped with any other camera we might discuss. That could possibly change eventually in the future, but not for now. Either way, I suppose it's up to the team who is creating the book to decide whether or not to include them in the book.

theres plenty of members with other cameras here, and this forum is very acceptive of it, but i agree, the book should be m4/3s and a section could be made to include other cameras

The TOP 10 voted categories are the Final categories, or Chapters.
there are 26 listed by suggested categories to vote on, that is already a closed phase.
NOW, the top 10 voted categories are being chosen.

If the design staff wants to include other camera's in a separate area, we will have to have a photo voting topic for that, which is OK, we don't have a "Time-Line" to complete the book set.

I'm talking about subject matter, not images. Almost any subject you can name has been done well in B&W.

An example of the confusion is if someone has a B&W portrait (or landscape, street photo, etc.) they want to submit, what category do they choose?

That is not a distinction I made until visiting this forum. I originally purchased an E-P1 to complement my E-series cameras, and I still have a foot planted in each system as does Olympus. The systems are so similar in many ways that it never occurred to me to segregate them. They are like family. We have different perspectives, I guess.

The way I see it, Maybe for that Chapter, we can have a few groupings for similar subject matter. Typically B&W will be Landscape and People (Street etc,)
Once the book designers are chosen, they may have an idea for the B&W chapter. The B&W & IR chapters will be the only chapter that will have multiple subjects.

No offense to non m43 users... But really?  This is a m43 book. Let's not be silly.  This is a m43 forum.

And I expect to see b&h thoughout the album when a great photo for Cityscapes is black and white.  Sure we'll obviously have a b&w only section of the book with awesome really appropriate b&w. There are def photos that were meant for b&w and have incredibly cool processing.

Excited!

Well I am glad that you saw the forum as something that is not totally restricted to just the Micro Four Thirds camera system. In the future we may take your suggestions into account and change some things around. ;-)
