Would you buy a digital OM-1?
« on: October 14, 2011, 06:25:28 PM »
If Olympus came out with a m4/3 that looked like an  OM-1, would you buy it.

Obviously this would be a camera with built-in EVF

I saw a 35SP sell for over $200 on eBay last week. It was claimed to have a full service done.

You'd like a the compact RF look.

Yeah...
I'm still waiting for a true digital rangefinder that's "slightly cheaper" than an M9..... :D

Sure!
I guess you're speculating about the appearance of the rumored Oly's X100-like camera, but yes, if it looks like an OM-1 and if it works like it, I will buy it!

The OM1 was so small, that if it wasn't for the pentaprism on top, you could easily be fooled that it was an RF camera....

I would prefer a digital OM4. I employed (multi-) spot metering for all non-flash exposures, and it impressed me as the best overall exposure metering system for the "thinking" photographer.

I had a OM-4' I Also used the multi-spot meter,
Too bad none of the digital cameras have that feature.

The Q. was more on the body design as a start. The features can include anything.

Forget about the features, it must have the reliability, durability and predictability of the original OM. Yes, the body design is extremely important too, and the small size and elegant lines and easy handling are an important factor too.
