Photographical magazines
« on: January 12, 2012, 05:20:54 AM »
I wonder which photographical magazines you other forum users read.

I read some swedish magazines about photo, but also the english one Black + White Photography. The recent number did came out in England before new year, but it hasn't arrived in Sweden yet. I'm waiting for it, 'cause it will contain a review of the E-P3.
Best wishes to you all!

I subscribe to Outdoor Photographer, Digital Photo Pro and Focus. All are awesome. The first two generally have great articles geared towards the advanced photographer and pro. I love Focus as it is a portfolio type publication and features amazing photographers and is chock full of images. Some brilliant work is presented there and it can help inspire me.

I honestly never read them. I used to look at them in the grocery store while passing time, but never actually read them. They do seem a bit gimmicky.

Depends on the magazine.  If you get one that focuses on photo news like Popular Photography, then yes, I get your point, but there a lot of really good magazines that give really good instruction and have some excellent photographers from which to take inspiration and learn from.  In the US, the ones I mentioned are the only ones I really like.  There are several really good British magazines too, and they tend to focus more on technique and photography than gear.  I had a subscription to Outdoor Photography (not to be confused with Outdoor Photographer), which was great, and will occasionally buy Practical Photography and Digital Photographer (both UK).  Digital Camera World is also quite good and is more technique focused than it sounds given the name of the magazine.

Digital photo pro, although they sometimes waste a lot of pages in rubish and I also dig the pop photo. They do a lot of news indeed but their camera reviews are amongst the absolute few that I respect, and actually reflect the reality of the camera.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...
