New Years resolutions are silly. If you were really serious about changing something, you'd do it instantly.

To change a habit, takes a conscience effort on a daily basis until the old habit is replaced with the new one. There is also a chemical process in the brain that destroys old neuron pathways, with the neuron pathways for the new habit. That takes time.... some scientists say about 28 days of daily practice of the new habit to [form] a new habit And a new neuron pathway, and it destroys/replaces the old one... What is left after that... Is your memory of the old habit and a blueprint of the old habit that can reformed in a very short time frame, if you go back to the old habit pattern on a regular basis.

So, in a way, you can change "instantly", but, to make it more permanent... takes a lot of repetition, until it is "second nature" to you, then, you have completed the changeover. But, your memory will still maintain of the old habit, but your brain will no longer have the actual neuron pathways to carry it by second nature... those where replaced by the new habit pathways...

Too much thinking makes me sleepy  :D

No but if you're planning on doing it, the worst thing you can do is set a date to do it, instead of start trying the second you decide you want to.

Yes, it takes an instant to make your mind up to change, Now the work needs to kick in to bring it to pass.... the time line varies with the goal in mind..

edit
And we don't need to wait for Jan 1 either, as Voyager suggests.... it can be done all year around to make changes in our habits......

I  think my main New Year resolution will be 4032x3024.

Sometimes I'll use 2560x1920, too.

Hmmm...
Well, since your own moderator started this thread with his resolutions, perhaps you should mention this idea to him.... :)

Those 4 things are a daily deal for me anyway
... I just listed them as things I try to practice daily....of course, a reminder every now and then doesn't hurt either... ;)

Perhaps I've found kindred spirits on this forum.
Now, I don't know if to be happy or to be worried...  ;D
