Post something controversial. First person to start a flame war wins. GO!

Obama, socialist or well-intentioned?

id rather see us all on the same side , flaming something worthy of our ire , here goes

the utter disregard of the federal govt for the health welfare and protection of the environment of the people of the united states , and people in other nations who are unfortunate enough to live in places on earth where resources  coveted by american corporations  lead to protracted wars
slaughtering countless millions of citizens for many decades

the gulf blowout event... these disgusting dispersant  do not clean the oil
but spread it thru the land air and water to make it less visible where it toxifies  the environment , this in no way is a slam on the engineers
who work hard in their profession in dangerous conditions , it  is corporate policy to engage in reckless practices , the magnitude of the gulf blowout disaster , is a subset of the assault
on the entire earths ecosystem , psychotic greed driven madmen run the show.

it spews the equiv of the exxon valdez event every 2 1\2 to 5 days and in addition to the crude oil gushing from the rupture a mile below the sea a volume of methane and other toxic  gasses hundreds of tims larger poisons the gulf , the avg life expectancy of an exxon valdez cleanup worker was 51 years old , this is some  nasty stuff

when the govt and corporations become one , there is no other word  to describe it but fascism , obama, bush clinton / they`re are exactly the same... we are ruled in secret and given a puppet show for the masses
whew!

i love posting on a forum that allows opinions like this to air

, in these times people need to be free to discuss and share their anger at what is unfolding ......perhaps people will be inspired to vote more wisely, or petition the federal govt  thru or reps  for its collusion with food drug and energy cartels ,
, sadly some  places on the internet consider  this verboten speech , when you are no longer to allowed to mention what is wrong and what you object to , then the guy with his boot on your neck has already won , why anyone would want to assist what is evil in the world today  bt supressing any mention of dissent or contrary opinion on the assault on freedom the environment  or crimes committed by the powerful or well placed is beyond me

orwell warned of this , our world is becoming a fufilled prophesy of nightmane opression and the death of all freedom and free thought
there is only one right side to this equation for the citizen, but
their are two right sides to this for those who rule us

Sure. It ain't me who the feds will be calling for anti-government, anti-american or anti-I-don't-know-what propaganda. I don't even live in US.
I've been reading your posts on the topic for quite a while. I can't really say anything because it is your call, americans. I can only agree, as freedoms are being denied all over the western world. I soon read that Irish will have all their Internet traffic monitored and their Internet connection disconnected at any attempt for downloading "illegal" content. No court, no hearing, only a bunch of lunatics deciding who will live with Internet, and who will live without. Netherlands banned the traditional dress of the Muslim women, which covers their face. Switzerland is banning minarets on the muslim mosques. In Italy it is becoming impossible to write or speak on the medias against that criminal Berlusconi. Man, the whole western world is going fascist. All sorts of bans and denials whose only reason is fear and dislike, despise of the different, of the one who still feels free to speak. There are people, I think, who can still feel with their harts, who will not fear being banned from a web forum or two. I'm with you, man.

thats a good vibration , this forum has a degree of mental health and intellectual maturity that sadly many places are terrified  to embrasce because of kneejerk reactionary posters who cant stand dissent from their vision of a my way or a highway world ,

why cant people understand the danger of govts haviing absolute power over the citizen/

do people not remember the history of the 20 c with the insanity of dictators

hitler stalin   polpot  the corporate ditctatorships emerging in the west have no less contempt for freedom or the citizen
  these are  strange  times

That’s not going to start a flame war, just a whole lot of agreement.

I stay away from politics and religion  ;)

However, I've seen some opinions here but nothing substantiated with facts  8)

Have fun folks - it'll take some thick skin to survive in some instances  :)

I find that limiting what people can talk about is counterproductive (there's a recent example of this in a neighboring forum, actually) from all of my years of running these things. If anything, I'll make a separate section for Politics and Religion if they become prominent enough, but I will never ban them.

Good luck then!  8)
In my previous forum experiences, I've seen quite a few online friendships get shattered because of unmoderated political & religious posts...

While that's true, limiting what people can talk about to only a certain area of topics (I also have much experience in dealing with this) can be just as detrimental, if not worse. I leave it up to the hope that the members will be kind of enough to each other to respect each other's views without making it personal. If they make it personal, then they'll be punished for it.

If a friendship can't last because of differences in political or religious views, what kind of friendship was it really? Same with marriages. If a gay marriage will destroy your straight marriage, how strong was it to begin with? ;)

No idea what kind of friendships they were....
All that I'm stating is that in previous experiences as a moderator, I've seen online friends turn to hate due to unmoderated political and/or religious posts...

Adash mentioned the "Minaret Verbot" in Switzerland. Actually that is an example of where the people have the ultimate power. That law was enacted by the Swiss citizens via "Volks Initiative" against the will of the government and most politicial parties. The Swiss people have the right to a constitutional initiative. If the majority vote accepts such a "peoples initiative" it becomes part of the constitution and no judge can ever overrule it. The people, right or wrong, truly have the last word. They will have to give up this right if they ever become part of the (relatively totalitarian) EU.

I totally know what you're talking about, but a very successful forum that I'm a member of makes it work, and I'm basing my methods off of them. Take a look for yourself: http://pentaxforums.com/forums

Exactly. During the 1930s and 1940s, the Nazis made this sort of thing work extremely well.
