Has anyone tried the new "Blonde" roast from Starbucks? (Don't know if it's available outside of N. America yet.) This looks like their attempt to woo those who think the normal Starbucks roast is too bitter. Don't know why they don't just push their mild "House" blend harder. (I guess it's because "House" doesn't sound nearly as sexy as "Blonde".)

I always get a chuckle when I see ads for their Blonde roast, because they always feature decidedly un-blonde people in them (not that I would expect them to use blondes, but that's what my mind always assumes).

I bought a bunch of unroasted peruvian beans at Trader Joe's one time, took it home and roasted them in a cast iron skillet, they made great coffee. I think you could do the same thing with the Starbuck's blonde-roast: if its not dark enough just roast it darker yourself.

Blonde is used in some interesting ways though. I think of Bob Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde" and Blonde Telecasters, in MP lighting a 2K fixture was called a "Blonde" for a long time. Personally I've never liked Blonde women, maybe Catherine Denueve a little.
