In addition to comfy chairs, Starbucks here in Canada now also offers free wi-fi!
(It was free-ish before, but you had to go through this clumsy login. Now it's completely free and open--I think--haven't tried it yet.) I just wonder how localized is the signal: could the shop next door also enjoy this freebie?

Sure, why not. Hey voyager--you say that you like to use your iPod Touch at Starbucks? I finally tried using my iPod Touch at a Starbucks; the device showed full wi-fi strength, but it wouldn't connect to anything! Is there still a logon process that you need to go through? I didn't stick around long enough to troubleshoot the issue.

Ah. I guess I'll have to stick around long enough to open a page next time....

@cosinaphile: Unconditional internet would be nice, but I'm sure the Starbucks lawyers would severely frown upon it; they must throw up some legalese bilge to cover their butts....

Anyone have any good coffee substitutes? I drink Yerba Mate (will post picture) when I'm up for a change. Or you know, every other day even if I did have coffee that day... I like my coffee with milk and no sugar.

I almost stopped drinking coffee in the first place. I seldom drink decaffeinated Lavazza and I usually drink tea.

I love coffee, I drink it all day long in rather large quantities, never less than 6 double espressos a day, and thats not even including morning coffees, when I'm out and about that early which is rare. I can't stand freeze dried, it's absolutely rank...its sticks to your mouth and makes it go all furry, well that's my personnal experience of it..I have an expresso machine that I worship and I truthfully wish I could take it everywhere with me like you do with a pet, I love the rattle it makes when the freshly ground hot juice trickles down onto the cup, it's the language of love...whoo esta mue caliente... One of the best buys in my life, I once had a nightmare in which it was being crushed by a giant bulldozer which was driven by an evil rabbit ...nah thats a lie. The true thing is that I love coffee...black...no sugar.

Does anyone have one of these expensive espresso machines that grinds (burr, not blade), drips, then discards the grounds? I have a pricey Delonghi model and even though the pieces are designed for easy pull out to clean, there appears to be no way to clean the burr grind assembly.

I just get a Granda "Pike" in a Venti cup, w/2 blue packets and milk... nothing fancy....
But, there is a local coffee/sandwich shop that is WAY better than Starbucks in flavored offering.... like Milky Way, Snickers, ect....
They have over 20 flavors with at least 4 candy bar flavors.  ummmmmmm, Not liquid, but powder flavors... They mix there own too....
