Man, oh man, I'm totally spoiling myself with this fresh ground stuff

(BTW, I think this place needs a drooling smiley like the one I just posted. Perfect for those Homer Simpson moments: "Mmmmmm.... In-body image stabilization... ghrgl...")

Really good Brasilian coffee, available in any grocery store in Brasil for very little dinheiro but almost unavailable in the U.S..

I get 2 or 3 kilos every trip or if a relative visits.

Is the box full of the grains?

Its a vacuum-sealed bag, the coffee is ground fine and works with a melitta style drip maker. Traditional brasilian coffee making (the way my mother-inlaw makes it for me) the coffee is added to a pan of water, heated and then the infusion is filtered through a cotton coffee filter, I drink it con leche.

As I sip some brew, I'd like to share a little something.  My local Public Radio station is holding there semi-annual pledge drive this week, and they give gifts with donation levels and they have daily prizes and sometimes hourly incentives.

Anyway, driving to work today (half day, woo hoo!) I hear the station is giving away a Canon 7D as a daily prize.  One makes any donation and gets into a pool for a chance to win the prize.

Now, I've listened to this station for over 10 years and I've never pledged, but after hearing about the daily prize I called up and made a dontaion.

I honestly believe I have no chance in hades of actaully winning, but it is a nice feeling knowing I have finally gave to a radio station I love...but a 7D would be nice too.

I understand karma and even just hoping for this will mean my ultimate elimination from a chance to win...oh well.

So let karma to the wind and let the cards fall where they may!

This is actually part of a limited "reissue" of a much loved/hated economy brand of food and household products that existed in the 80s, called Blåvitt ( = Blue white). To underline that the products were anything but fancy, they all had white packaging with the contents declared in large caps:

Very communist-dictatorship-chíc ;D

Those tins at the top labeled KAFFE (swedish for coffee) don't come filled with coffee, which is a good thing, because as I recall it, their coffee was shit. I really liked their ICE CREAM though.

Hmm... Apparently they do sell coffee grounds too. I may have to give it a try, just for old time's sake ;)
