The other day I shot some video of an outdoor performance with fireworks. I was using my Panasonic 20mm and was quite confident that it should give me the highest quality, noise-free video, due to its wide aperture. When I play the clips on my HD TV (via a PS3), I was dismayed to see quite a bit of noise visible in the night sky as the camera panned upwards to follow the trails of fireworks. However, when I play the clips on my computer, the noise is not evident.

I wonder if the noise was caused by the PS3 playing back the clip? Or the TV itself? I haven't had a chance yet to convert my video into the AVCHD format that I normally use. I've shot fireworks videos on my smaller Panasonic TZ5 before and the night sky stays night and dark--no noise, despite the smaller sensor.

Has anyone else observed this? I'd like to hear from others who have shot E-P1 video in dark conditions.
