The PEN goes to Hollywood
« on: January 06, 2011, 01:34:05 PM »
While us mere mortals have dissed the PEN's video capability, here's one Hollywood director who absolutely gushes over the E-P1's video:

http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/oima_secretariatpen.asp?cid=em_cap_11_10_spotlight&hq_e=el&hq_m=2087097&hq_l=15&hq_v=597061dd02

Who would've thought mere 720p footage would be good enough for a Hollywood film? (Though I don't think many of the footage would've lingered long enough on the screen for you to notice.)

The shots they got is also a testament to the E-P1's ruggedness (none of the cameras broke).

i am very pleased to see the pen used thus,

ive said to many folks i know ,just how important it is to have such capabilities in a small camera
and this interview shows it in spades

That's incredible that not one PEN broke during filming.  I've been rough with mine, but I wouldn't dare throw it into a cage with a horse, or strap one behind horses hoofs during a race.  I wonder if the director complained about the slow AF speed, lol?

Only one of the scenes I could tell was done with the E-P1, the one with the blown highlights (ha).
