I know most of these are edited with effects and some are stop motion, but I just wanted people to see what could be achieved through such a tiny and wonderful camera.

Camera shake is irritating in the second video. I see you are using it as a creative effect in the last one, but the second video does not benefit from that. Seek ways to minimize camera shake.
Also on the second video: Zooming in and out many times is not very pleasant for the viewer either. So seek ways to show the picture with a single focal length (preferably not 14mm, as it distorts the perspective a lot).

Except for the notes above, the videos are very good. Very creative work.

Thanks for the input, I will take it into consideration, because like I said, I am just a beginner, and obviously this camera is not really meant for film and I have not much experience with it, but I love experimenting when I have something that is capable of a lot more than it is "intended" for.

I did one today in about 20 minutes. One of my friends on my street gave me 2 Stella Artois beers and a Stella cup, and I immediately had a video and song in my head for it and did this in that short time. I had drunk both beers plus the other 3 tall boys I had before I completed the song and editing, but I like to challenge myself while drunk, I guess it's because I am an alcoholic.

Peace!

Very creative, Helgen X. I like your choice of music. I agree about the camera shake in the second video--despite the electronic image stabilization, I find it tricky to hold and pan the E-P1 smoothly during video. (I don't seem to recall having as much difficulty with a camcorder...hmmm.) The shake'n'blur in the third video is obviously intentional, but it was beginning to make me nauseated. Perhaps I'm a bit too old to appreciate the "music video" look.  :P Your beer glass one looks just like a commercial for Stella.

You can really see the slow C-AF response from the PEN and how quickly the image goes out of focus when you move about. That's the hardest thing to get use to when compared to a P&S (where deep DOF hides focus shifts) or a camcorder (quick C-AF takes care of things). I wonder if all the D5000 and T2i users are similarly disappointed.

Thanks Centaur!

As for the focus, I shot it in A mod,e becase you get a really nice lens blr with it on, but you are right about the slow focus. I should have used C-AF. I totally forgot I would put a song over the video, otherwise you know the E-P1 makes such a horrible lens noise with video.

Yes, the background blur is very attractive--but that comes at a cost of shallower DOF, which causes your subject to be out of focus with every twitch of the camera. I thought you had the camera on C-AF. Were you pressing the AEL/AFL button to refocus instead? Either way, the lens noise is really obvious on video, unless you're dubbing a soundtrack (or blow for the 14-150).

That third video is by far my favorite. Thanks for bringing some activity to this board!

The third video could fit in with your "bbarr" thread (which I still don't fully get).   :-\

Video for the PEN is a tough slog indeed.

The bbarr thread is a take from an old Flickr thread in my favorite group.

But anyways, I've never understood the difficulties that video has on the PEN cameras.

I don't think it's a problem specific to the PENs...it could be just one of expectations. Most people use camcorder: devices with tiny tiny sensors (far smaller than a P&S), resulting in huge DOF. And they have AF designed for video. As a result, camcorder video is seldom out of focus and you don't hear any focus noise. Moving up to P&S videos, there is still a healthy DOF and the lack of focus isn't a hindrance. Now with larger sensor cameras, you have limited DOF and an AF that's frequently not up to snuff. That results in very unsatisfactory videos of anything except for still life where the camera doesn't move.

I just made a “video” with the E-P1 (and Micro-Nikkor 55mm) (and an Elinchrom BX250Ri with a silver brolly).

That was pretty cool Ian, throw some music up there, and you got yourself an Adult Swim "bump".

Hey, can a moderator change the thread title to "The E-P1 Forum Members M4T Videos Thread" or something like that?
