Awesome use of fish eye lens
« on: July 26, 2011, 11:09:36 PM »
I'm not sure if this video was recorded using m43, but it does make me want to buy the 8mm fisheye from Panasonic.

I'm guessing a Panasonic camera was used, probably GF2 since it will fly under security radar.  Why Panasonic and not Oly?  Because the audio quality isn't as nice as what you get with Oly.

Hello!
That video was taken with a Canon 5d Mark II and a Canon 15mm fisheye. Was the only way I could record the whole stage (stage way too low, couldn't see half of musicians from second row).
I have used the fisheye to record gigs in smaller clubs, I like it a lot especially if the audio allows recording, for instance, from the side of the stage.
In the video you linked I used a Rode Videomic Pro to record the audio (was my first time).

How were you able to get the 5D Mark II in there though? Thanks for joining and letting us know!

Oh.. it's a venue where all types of cameras are allowed. I think there are only two venues in my city where they check bags for "bigger" cameras, as they say :)

Do you happen to have any Micro Four Thirds cameras, by the way?

Nope. I was considering getting one of the Olympus ones but all my lenses are Canon, so..

We have quite a few Canon users here who have adapted their lenses to Micro Four Thirds with great success. Check out the Lens Sample Photo Archive (I think we've got quite a few L lenses on there).

That's really cool. I'd guess it's a smaller local pub or some-such.
There is a such a pub in my area that has a small band every 1st Saturday,.. they allow cameras also....

Nice video.

Sweet!  Thanks for the info.  I hope Red Sparowes play SF this year.
