Just bought and received my e-pl1with standard lense kit (14-42mm) on Friday. I haven't played with it very much yet and hope to receive the Panasonic 20MM this week. I really like the pics but am having trouble with video. Two things keep reoccurring. Please forgive if these are rookie mistakes, but would like to know how to correct the issues.
1. I am getting a fair amount of video flicker when filming.
2. The video won't focus after zooming unless I depress the photo button half way to focus. So I am constantly depressing the photo button to focus during filming, which causes the video to stutter slightly.

Please let me know what I am doing wrong?!

When you say that you are getting flickers in your video, is it only on the LCD or is it on the finished video too?

It's with the LCD and finished video as well.

This may be because of the street lights or fluorescent light indoors...are you getting it with every kind of light?

That's weird. I've never seen nor heard of flicker from any digital video device before, even when shooting under weird fluorescent lights. It may indicate a defect.

As for the focus, the default is for the camera to focus only before videoing begins. I assume that on the E-PL1, half pressing the shutter forces a refocus (on the E-P1, it's done by pressing the AEL/AFL button). This is normal. You can set the camera to C-AF (continuous auto focus) and the camera will try to change focus on its own, but this mode is not recommended because refocusing is slow and you'll still get the visible/audible stuttering in your clips.
