How to Navigate Through the Scn and Art Filter Modes
« on: October 17, 2011, 04:19:22 PM »
hi everyone, my name is Dennis - I just got my e-p1 this weekend and very excited to start using it on my trips. My last camera was a nikon p5100 p&s and I wanted to upgrade but did not feel like getting the bulky full dslr's out there so the e-p1 was the perfect choice to make. plus i really love the retro feel and how it feels in my hands.

i'd like to know how you can navigate through the scn and art filter modes. when you choose, for example, the scn mode and choose a setting there - let's say portrait - and you want to change it to another setting like landscape, i can't figure out how i can do it from the screen. i end up moving the thumbwheel to another mode then go back to the scn mode so that i can choose landscape. same thing with the art filters.

is there any other way to do this without tinkering with the thumbwheel because it's counter-intuitive and slow if i need to change settings on the fly.

help!

thanks!

I only shoot Manual mode, but I just did a tinker in the dreaded SCN area.

I was able to change scenarios by using 3 methods: the thumb-wheel, the arrow button and the outer wheel button (also the arrow button dial).

If there are any Custom Function settings to change this, I have yet to tread there.

thanks for the reply, jason c.

how exactly do you do that? i've tried everything but it just doesn't change SCN scenarios except when i move the thumbwheel to a different mode then go back to SCN so i can choose a different scenario.

would appreciate a detailed guide.

thanks so much!

Now that I messed around with it more, I now understand what you are asking.  Sorry on my count, like I said, this is one area of the camera I never visit.  Still, you've got my curiosity peeked.  I'm messing around with the Oly right now, I'll chime in soon.

Got it!

Do this:

When you want to change the SCENE MODE (Portrait to Sports), select the OK button to enter the Master Menu.  ARROW up on the RIGHT side menu until you reach a SCENE ICON.  Either ARROW left or right, or thumb-wheel to select a different SCENE.  Click OK.

It works.
