HDR+B/W???
« on: January 03, 2012, 01:10:49 PM »
Hi, I've just posted my first try at HDR - nothing complicated, just an home shoot
of some bottles, if you want you can see it here:

But, looking at it I had an idea and I transformed it in a grayscale image.
Now, it is just me, or the b/w images made in this way have a more "refined"
look? Like a better rendering of gray shades?

I can't say I've done any HDR stuff, but I think B+W HDR does look a little bit more natural, probably cause we've seen it done on film more often.  B+W film has significantly more dynamic range than color, and is easier to burn and dodge in the darkroom, leading to it being much more 'main stream', especially in fine art photography.

At least that's my theory...

I did one!! I absolutely love it even if its a bit "overdone". The file can tolerate more of anything than any color file can. click it

More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

I've just opened the HDR image in Photoshop Express (I'm posting from a tablet) and choose Grayscale. That's all.
