Hi,

The option to turn on noise reduction is greyed out on my G menu. I can adjust the noise filter, but not the noise reduction. I tried looking at the Olympus website, but there was no help there. Can anybody explain this?

Yes.
Short answer: it is because you have continuous shooting enabled instead of single shot.
Long answer: There are two types of "noise reduction" on the Oly E cameras. They are sort of misnamed, so it is confusing. What is called "noise reduction" on the menu is really "dark frame subtraction". The camera takes a frame with the shutter closed and subtracts it (and any warm pixels) from your shot. Usually you only want this on long exposures over several seconds. It is effective on hot pixels, if you have any on really long exposures, but does nothing for fine grained noise. "Noise filter" is software blurring or noise reduction of fine grained noise. You can't use the dark frame subtraction on continuous shooting because it would not work; there would not be enough time to take a second exposure as long as the first when firing at 3 frames per second.
