Rubber base boot for E-P2?
« on: July 04, 2011, 09:23:49 AM »
Looking for something like a rubber boot for the bottom of my E-P2.  I don't need an over-priced leather 1/2 case that blocks the controls  (seems silly to fork over $100+ for the retro look  ???) .  There has to be something out there that will allow you to set the camera down on a hard surface (flat, with no center threaded knob) without worrying about scuffing it up too much.

Are you just wanting to protect the base or the corners as well? If it's just the base I don't see any reason why you couldn't use industrial double sided tape (3M make some for car badges) and cut a strip of rubber to fit, allowing for the battery door of course.

If you wanted something more protecting of the sides you could get one of the cheap "never ready" cases and just use the bottom half which is what I've done. It doesn't cover any buttons. It does have a threaded knob to attach it but that could be removed and replaced with velcro on the base of the camera and the inside of the case. Or you could loop the strap through the camera eyelets AND the eyelets on the case.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of creating a thin neoprene sheet to apply.  I'll study up the bottom contour to see if a stealthy shape can be made.
