Quality of the add on evf.
« on: July 08, 2010, 07:42:59 PM »
Have used some of the prosumer Panasonics (and other brands). Found the evf quality horrible. Like looking at colored dots. No way I could use it to manually focus. The lcd was much higher quality.

What is the quality of the Olympus evf? Close to lcd screen quality? Better ( my Pentax K-7D lcd has more resolution than the E-PL1 lcd). Would be mad If I payed close to $300 for a poor evf.

thanks

The Panasonic EVF only has 230K dots, and the resolution is said to be horrible. The Olympus EVF has over 1 million dots though and the quality is said to be the best that anyone has ever used.

Thanks for the replies. Will try to get question in right forum next time. Evf so important to me didn't think of it as an accessory. Sorry about that.

Wish Olympus had done the evf different. Since it could go anywhere, would be nice to have two "hotshoes" one centered over lens for flash, other off to the side for EVF. Over on the very end would have been nice. Then it work like the E300/330 body, not making you press nose into the lcd.

Video quality seems as high as it gets. Just never been a fan of poorer EVFs.
thanks
