Olympus Remote Control (RC) Flash

Can someone bring me up to speed on the remote control flash used by Olympus. Supposedly the new E-P3 will have this.

What are the pros and cons. How is the flash used? Hot shoe, side mounted, studio use only?

Thinking of getting the E-P3 and the FL-36R. Am I still going to be able to use the EVF2 and external flash?
