Custom E-P1 Remote
« on: July 08, 2011, 12:10:58 AM »
Fourth of July was rolling around and I was excited about taking pictures of fireworks this year.  I was planning on using the bulb setting with a remote  but with the fireworks show a few days away, finding one in time would be difficult.  Couldn't find any remotes in any camera shops and ordering online would take too long... So I made my own.

Black button for normal shutter operation. Since I shoot manual lenses I didn't bother with adding a separate autofocus button.
Toggle switch for shooting using the bulb setting.  Works like a charm.  Thought about using a normal black sliding switch but toggle switches are way cooler.

Dremel, wall wart, epoxy, wires, solder, old usb cable.... put it all together.  Here are some pics.

Great work! My $7 Pixel remote does exactly that plus AF, but I had to wait for it for several weeks as it had to arrive all the way from China.

I am not a technically minded person, but I think this is absolutely so cool!

Man, if you could make more of these then you probably would be able to sell them.
