Capture Camera Clip System
« on: July 11, 2011, 11:22:00 AM »
I've discovered this really cool camera "clip" system that lets you hang your PENs and DSLRs from your belt or almost anything else:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/97103764/capture-camera-clip-system?ref=live

It looks like photo enthusiasts have embraced this device in droves, pushing this project to over 30x its target!

This is a great idea! I've seen these before but never known where to buy them before.

I believe there is at least one other similar device out there, but this particular unit is not on the market--yet. The creator of this device is about to mass produce and early adopters ("backers") can get in at a discounted price ($50 vs. $70 when it makes it to market). There are five days left to get in as a backer. I recommended anyone who is interested to check it out.

This fellow has already secured #3 spot for all-time funding on Kickstart and he's making a push for #2!

It's absolutely going to be developed, as they've exceeded their funding goal many times over!

I can't wait to get my unit. This'll be especially great for my E-P1, as the smaller size makes it less obtrusive hanging off my belt.

I don't know if he hoped to have such a demand....

He doesn't even need to develop the system anymore. I still hope he does.

He has to, or else he won't get any of the money! The vast majority of the amount are just pledges...the backers' credit cards are not charged until the product is shipped (processing is by Amazon).

Unlike many other Kickstarter projects where you throw in a few bucks to support the project, not knowing or caring what happens at the end, this Camera Capture System is an actual item that the backers have prepurchased. Of course, he could simply take the money and run, but I don't think Amazon would let that happen...

That seems an interesting way to get an enthusiastic project up and running!

Crowdfunding the patent

It's a very cool idea and patent pending too.  It turns out if you invent something, you can crowdfund the patent.  http://bit.ly/kikpat

Doesn't sound too nice. If it is crowd-funded, then it belongs to the crowd.
