Amazing GH2 Flash Adapter!
« on: May 16, 2011, 11:25:55 AM »
I was out shooting Magnolias on Saturday when another member walked up and with the on camera flash and this diffuser started taking images!  I was amazed at its simplicity and functionality for closeup work!

Also, places like Dealextreme and Focalprice have them for around $5 delivered (from Hong Kong so it will take a couple of weeks). Theirs is a pack with three colours (OK, two plus clear) http://www.dealextreme.com/p/universal-3-colors-pop-up-flash-diffuser-cover-for-camera-56811

I have it!!! It fits all cameras except (of course) the sony hotshoe mount, but they offer it in that mount too (shown here). It does a fantastic job at softening/diffusing the light form the camera and its fully adjustable!! His products are well researched and definitely work better than a sock. Ive used all sorts of hotshoe diffusers and most are crap but this is the exception. Beware of imitations!!! they seem the same but theyre poorly made and spill light from the bottom even if you use the highest hole! (see second picture), spend the extra 10$ and buy the gary fong!!!

On a side note Im not much of a gear shooter but arent this great? I mean, its ISO 1600 Jpeg straight out the GH2. Dynamic color mode -1 contrast and -1 noise reduction, I.R. 2.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

It's only effective for macro. I tried a similar one with my K-r and got no visible difference in portrait shots.

thats why its have to be from gary fong, Ive used it on countless occations and it does suppress hotspots on people.
